SoulMate AI ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information:

  • Email address (used for account creation and authentication)
  • Display name (chosen by you)
  • Account credentials (passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text)

  • Chat messages you send within the App
  • Character preferences and interaction history

  • Unique device identifiers
  • App version and crash logs

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App
  • Create and manage your account
  • Generate AI-powered responses personalized to your interactions
  • Process subscription transactions
  • Send important service notifications
  • Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and content policies

3. AI-Generated Content & Third-Party AI Processing

All conversations in SoulMate AI are with artificial intelligence characters, not real people. All AI-generated messages are clearly identified as such within the App.

How Your Messages Are Processed: When you send a message, it is transmitted to third-party AI service providers (specifically, large language model API providers such as OpenAI-compatible services) for the sole purpose of generating an AI character response. By using the chat feature, you explicitly consent to this data processing. Specifically:

  • Only the conversation context (your messages and prior AI responses) necessary to generate a reply is sent to the AI provider
  • Your email address, account credentials, payment information, and device identifiers are never shared with AI providers
  • AI providers are contractually obligated to protect your data, not retain it beyond the processing request, and not use it for their own training or purposes
  • AI processing may occur on servers located in the United States or other countries outside your country of residence
  • We select AI providers that maintain industry-standard security certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or equivalent)

We do not use your conversations to train AI models without your explicit consent. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, inappropriate, or misleading, and should not be relied upon as professional advice of any kind.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • AI Service Providers: Your conversation messages are sent to third-party AI providers solely for generating chat responses. No personally identifiable information beyond message content is shared.
  • Payment Processors: Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) process subscription transactions. We do not directly handle or store your payment card information.
  • Analytics: We may use anonymized analytics to improve the App. No personally identifiable information is shared with analytics providers.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, legal process, or government request
  • Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with prior notice to users)

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Chat messages are retained as part of your conversation history.

Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through:

  • The App: Go to Profile > Delete Account or Settings > Delete Account
  • The Web: Visit our Account Deletion page
  • Email: Contact support@soulmate-ai.com

Deletion Timeline: Upon receiving a deletion request, your account will be deactivated immediately. All associated personal data (including conversations, characters, and profile information) will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Encrypted backup copies may take up to 90 days to be fully purged.

Data We May Retain: We may retain anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you, and minimal records required by applicable law (such as transaction records for tax compliance).

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL)
  • Secure password hashing
  • Access controls and authentication for our systems
  • Regular security assessments

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Data Portability: Request a machine-readable copy of your data
  • Opt Out: Opt out of promotional communications
  • Restriction: Request restriction of processing of your data
  • Objection: Object to processing of your data for certain purposes
  • Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw your consent to data processing at any time by deleting your account through the App (Settings > Delete Account) or by contacting us. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing performed before the withdrawal

8. Advertising, Tracking & Cookies

SoulMate AI is committed to respecting your privacy:

  • We do not display third-party advertisements in the App
  • We do not use Apple's IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) or Google's Advertising ID to track you
  • We do not participate in cross-app or cross-site tracking
  • We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to data brokers or advertisers
  • We do not use cookies on our website for tracking purposes; any cookies used are strictly necessary for website functionality

If Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework prompts you for permission, you may safely deny it — our App does not require tracking permissions to function.

10. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know: You can request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
  • Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information. If this changes, we will provide a "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link
  • Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights

11. European Residents (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Legal Basis: We process your data based on: (a) your consent, (b) performance of our contract with you (Terms of Service), and (c) our legitimate interests in operating and improving the App
  • Data Transfers: Your data may be transferred to servers outside the EEA. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

12. Children's Privacy

SoulMate AI is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we discover that a user under 18 has provided personal information, we will promptly delete their account and associated data.

13. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside your country of residence. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries that may have different data protection laws.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and, for material changes, providing an in-app notification. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
